CEO and Founder
Danaë is the inventor, founder and CEO of Indigo. She drives Indigo’s strategic vision, culture and passion to transform science into products that will improve the life of millions of people. She has a successful track-record in business management and entrepreneurship having successfully founded or co-founded 7 high-tech photonics companies over the past 12 years. She received her Ph.D. degree in Applied Sciences from Ghent University in 2002 and holds a Bachelor of Science in Economics as well as a Bachelor and Masters of Applied Sciences/Engineering in Photonics.
Barbara is an experienced finance professional with over 15 years of relevant experience. During her tenure at one of the ‘big four’ accountancy firms in Austria and Belgium, her focus of work was mainly on M&A transactions with small and medium-sized companies. Since 2018, she has been working for start-up and scale-up companies as part-time CFO, helping to create financial processes, reporting and controlling, as well as supporting fundraising activities. Barbara holds a Masters Degree in Finance from the Vienna University of Business and a Masters Degree of Business Administration from Vlerick Business School.
VP Clinical and Medical Affairs
Gijs has over 15 years of academic and healthcare industry experience. After his medical training in abdominal surgery at the University of Leuven, he held multiple positions in Medical and Clinical Affairs at pharmaceutical and medical device companies. These include roles as Director of Medical Affairs Europe at Boston Scientific and Worldwide Medical Director Clinical Research at Johnson & Johnson’s medical device division (Cordis and Cardiovascular Care Franchise). During this time, Gijs supported the clinical development of different products ranging from regulatory submission (CE mark & IDE) to post-market commitments and development. Gijs holds an MD from the University of Leuven, Belgium and a degree in Business Administration from the Institute for Pharmaceutical Business Administration (IFB).
Juan has over 15 years’ experience in the research, design and development of miniaturized active implantable medical devices (AIMDs). His expertise spans implantable bionic technologies, material sciences, microfabrication technology and processes, and design & development under quality-controlled environments. His work has been recognized by multiple awards gained at international scientific associations of science and engineering. Juan holds a PhD in Microsystems Engineering from the University of Freiburg.
Tom has over 20 years of experience in the Medical Devices Industry. Prior to joining Indigo, Tom served as Senior European Sales Operations and Marketing Manager for the Neuromodulation Franchise of LivaNova. Throughout his career Tom has held different commercial and marketing positions both at a national and international level in various Medical Device companies.
